Why I Still Prefer Pro Tools over FL

I’ve worked in both Fairlight and Pro Tools. Fairlight is modern, flexible, and great for video integration — but I prefer Pro Tools. Not out of habit, but because it works better for how I think and work.

It’s not the flashiest DAW, and setup can be a pain, but once you’re in, it offers structure, precise automation, and clean routing. It feels more organized — and when you're deep into complex mixes, that matters.

Maybe I was shaped by how I was trained, but that structure still holds up — and so does the fact that Pro Tools is the industry standard. It’s what most high-end film mixers, post houses, and studios use, and when you need to collaborate or deliver at a professional level, that consistency is crucial.

I’m all for innovation, but I’ve learned that modern doesn’t always mean better. Pro Tools may not be perfect, but it’s built for serious work — and that’s why I stick with it. I know how to use Fairlight too, when needed.

Tools should support your workflow, not distract from it.

Hoping to land more editing jobs soon — and keep evolving.
